LimitWatch — Support

LimitWatch shows your Claude session and weekly usage limits in the macOS menu bar. If something is not working, this page is the fastest way through it.

What it needs

Claude Code installed and signed in on the same Mac, with a Claude subscription. LimitWatch reads the limits of the account Claude Code is signed in to; it cannot sign you in and it has no account of its own.

Common questions

It says it cannot read the Keychain.: Claude Code is not signed in on this Mac, or was signed out. Run claude in a terminal and sign in; LimitWatch picks the credentials up on the next refresh.
It says “too many requests”.: The usage endpoint limits how often it may be asked. The app backs off on its own and recovers; a shorter refresh interval makes this more likely, and five minutes is the default for that reason.
The numbers differ from what Claude Code prints.: Both read the same endpoint, so a difference is almost always a matter of timing — one of the two is showing an older poll. Refresh from the menu to compare them at the same moment.
The icon is missing from the menu bar.: macOS hides menu-bar items when the bar runs out of room, which a notched display makes more likely. Quit some other menu-bar apps, or use an item manager to give it space.
